Man who tried to fight for Islamic State in Syria loses appeal
A man who was kicked out of an Islamic State safe house because he felt his fellow roommates held insufficiently extreme views about “unbelievers” has failed in a bid to slash his sentence.
A court heard Amin Elmir travelled to Turkey in 2016, where he collected military equipment and got in touch with various people — including one who was being monitored by the Australian Federal Police — about travelling to Syria to fight for the Islamic State.
