We are receiving reports of impersonation accounts being created on social media services that use scraped images from a person’s actual account. The impersonation account bios include a link to fake
subscription pages claiming to provide intimate images for a fee.These pages are not legitimate subscription sites – while they require people to provide their credit card details to view the intimate content, it’s likely no intimate content exists.
If this has happened to you (or someone you know) don’t panic and follow these three steps:
1. Take screenshots of the account and record the URL where the content is posted.
2. Report what’s happened to the social media service involved and to eSafety. www.esafety.gov.au/report
